At Byington Winery, we take two things seriously… the making of great wine and Social Distancing, or as we call it Physical Distancing and Social Connecting. Great wine starts with great fruit. Under the watchful eye of Andrew Brenkwitz, our winemaker, and the crew, we recently replanted 200 new Pinot Noir vines. The new vines are susceptible to wind, physical damage, and small mammals so they too are required to shelter in place for up to 139 days. These mini shelters protect the vines and encourage upright growth. We used new, clean, empty juice cartons instead of grow tubes.
