Did you know that Pinot Noir is a black grape variety of the species Vitis Vinifera? The name comes from the French words for “pine” and “black,” alluding to the grapes tightly clustered, dark, purple, pine cone-shaped grape clusters. When making our Gold Medal-winning 2016 Pinot Noir Estate wine, Andrew does not filter this wine in order to maintain the texture of the wine, which gives it the luscious and weighty mouthfeel you experience with each sip. Andrew’s dedication to each wine is unwavering and each bottle of wine has his signature on the label as a symbol of his dedication.

“This is one of my favorite wines I get to make here at Byington due to the fact that I get to nurture this wine from January through December. The crew and I are hands on over the vineyard, pruning, harvesting, vinification, and the bottling of the wine. I invite everyone to try this wine.”  - Andrew Brenkwitz, Byington Winemaker
